Deeply tactile and intricately patterned, each work reveals the inherent qualities of the material, and the labor behind its making. The surface patterning on these reliefs — floral in some places, almost mechanical in others — are in fact thousands of individual hand-made markings, impressions of sundries collected from flea markets and dollar stores: cutlery and batteries, clothes pins and bobbins.
