Stuart Roberton's Self-Portrait of the Artist, is included in The Outwin 2022: American Portraiture Today, a traveling exhibition featuring 42 inthe National Portrait Gallery's trienniel Outwin Boochever Portrait Competition.
The Outwin Boochever Portrait Competition celebrates excellence in the art of portraiture, and reflects the compelling and diverse approaches contemporary artists are using to convey their personal and collective stories through portraiture. The artists in the 2022 competition responded with works that engage contemporary society, many providing new insights into the unprecedented reality we have experienced in the time surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic.
Beginning at the National Portrait Gallery, The Outwin 2022 will travel through Fall 2024 to the Orlando Museum of Art, FL; Ackland Art Museum at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, NC; Michele and Donald D'Amour Museum of Fine Arts, Springfield, MA; and Grand Raids Art Museum, MI.
