Displaying a diversity of mythical creatures from different cultures, the exhibition Mythical Creatures: China and the World explores the similarities, differences and purpose of mythical creatures. On view are collection highlights from China, Japan, Korea and Southeast Asia, as well as Persia and Western Europe. Ai Weiwei’s Heluo with Self-Portrait, 2023, is featured, adding to the narrative of how the past continues to inform art today.
